Amy Winehouse London home for sale

The family of Amy Winehouse has put the late singer's London home up for sale for 2.7 million pounds ($4.2 million).
The three-bedroom property in the Camden neighborhood of northwest London had become a shrine of sorts for mourning fans who left flowers and tributes following Winehouse's death last July from alcohol poisoning.

Chris Goodman, a spokesman for the Winehouse family, said Thursday that the singer had loved the house and her family put it on the market because they felt it would be inappropriate for any of them to live there.
"It was not practical to keep it empty while paying the costs of its upkeep," he said in a statement, adding that the family had reached the decision with "great regret."

The 2,500 square-foot home features three bedrooms — including an "impressive master suite with vaulted ceiling" — three living rooms and private front and rear gardens overlooking the tony Camden Square, according to online listing agent Housenetwork.co.uk.
Graham Lock, spokesman for Housenetwork.co.uk, confirmed that the listing has generated "a lot of interest" but would not go into detail about how many inquiries had come in given that the Winehouse family had asked for discretion.
"There's a lot of fans getting in touch about it so we're trying to weed out the genuine interest from people who are just being nosy," he said.

TONY STAGE set to TAKE YOU THERE

TONY STAGE
Nigeria is undoubtedly blessed with talents in all spheres of life. One of such talents is Delta State protege Tony Dafe Ighofose, a final year student of Business Administration from the Lagos State University (LASU).
Though an aspiring business administrator, Tony Stage as he’s popularly called is driven by one passion....Music!

Career:
As a teenager, singing for him started from church, where he was a lead singer in the choir, before he later delved into commercial music. As an easy going person, Tony Stage is naturally inclined to R&B though he could sway to hip-hop and highlife music.

At Idols West Africa
His passion for music led him to the 1st edition of Idols West Africa competition organized by the then CELTEL but now AIRTEL and Pan Africa. He qualified as part of the top 24 singers from an auditioning of about 5,000 people. Though he couldn’t make the top ten list, Tony says aside the experience, friendship was the major gift he got from the competition. Life for him after Idols wasn’t so easy as its so hard to get your break. he says however, he’s been able to adjust back to his normal life, fitting into the usual everyday life. The Lagos State born Artiste said his participation at Idols opened doors for him in terms of his music career. Though he hasn’t really been in the light because he decided to take time off to re-brand himself as an Artiste, he has performed in fashion shows, and also featured in albums of up coming Artistes like Tosin, Igho, Big Lo among others. He writes all his songs and does all backing vocals. His debut single titled "Specially for You" (a combination of highlife and R&B ) enjoyed tremendous airplay across radio stations in Nigeria.

On his take about the Nigerian Music industry, this is what he says " the Nigerian Music industry is doing fantastic. In spite of odds like piracy, they have still been able to produce good videos, win both local and international awards, its a huge achievement".

Role Models:
He’s inspired by artistes like R Kelly, Usher, Sisqo, Neyo, Chris Brown, Lionel Riche, and Beyonce. On the home front Tony Stage admires Tuface Idibia, and Banky W for their passion and vocal skills.

The name TONY STAGE for him represents every stage of his life. The R&B singer also has about 12 songs to his kitty. Aside music, Tony presently works as a freelance Marketer and in his spare time he writes songs, plays volleyball and basketball.
Tony wants to be taken seriously about his music as he has so much to offer. He has been fighting for his dream a long time now and will never give up his dream. His message for his fans out there is "don’t give up on your dream, delay is not denial, stay focused"

MIB3 Tops It All

After a four-year break from the big screen, Will Smith once again puts on his crown as the Fresh Prince of the box office. Men in Black 3, the first installment of the hit franchise to come around in 10 years, was able to do what Battleship and Dark Shadows couldn't: take The Avengers out of the No. 1 spot.

The sci-fi comedy, which follows Smith back in time to meet a young Tommy Lee Jones (played by Josh Brolin), grossed $70 million at the box office. Slightly less than expected, but still comfortably above The Avengers' second place $37 million take. MiB 3 also took in $133 million overseas, but it still has a long way to go before it's in the, um, black. The Hollywood Reporter estimates that, between a $230 million production budget and huge marketing spend, the film will have to clear $500 million before Sony Pictures can consider it profitable.

Battleship held on to No. 3 with $10.8 million while Think Like a Man stayed in the top ten with $1.4 million in ticket sales, bringing it's grand total to $88.4 million since release.

Next week, Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart bring their Snow White and the Huntsmen to the yard. Will they be able to snatch the crown from MiB 3?

SHIT POWER....9ja FOREVER

In the crowded slums of Lagos, Nigeria, untreated sewage mingles with the chaotic network of pipes that deliver water to the city. Those who can't afford a local borehole or a private vendor know better than to take their chances with the taps -- most preferring to go thirsty instead.
That's according to Olatunbosun Obayomi, a Lagosian microbiologist and inventor who has lived in the city all his life.
But now Obayomi thinks he's found a solution -- one that not only tackles the slums' sanitation issues, but creates free, clean energy in the process.
"With a cheap retrofit, household septic tanks -- the source of the sewage -- can be converted into biogas generators," said Obayomi, 29, whose concept has earned him a TED fellowship, a Nigerian Youth Leadership Award and growing international acclaim.
"The idea of turning waste into energy has been around for centuries. My innovation is simply applying the chemistry in a practical way by using the resources we already have," he explained.
In most homes in Lagos, toilet waste is stored in rudimentary septic tanks beneath the ground. Here it decomposes into a poisonous compound, before being sucked out by a tanker that deposits it all in a nearby lagoon.
"Unfortunately, the system of water pipes is very disorganized, and they often pass through the same place where the sewage is dumped," said Obayomi. "And it's not uncommon for poorly constructed septic tanks to leak directly into the drainage system."
Conventional septic tankBut rather than attempt a wholesale overhaul of Nigeria's waste system, Obayomi's approach makes use of the existing septic tanks -- equipping them with new waste entry pipes that remove oxygen from the decaying process.Retrofitted septic tank

As he explained: "When excreta decompose with oxygen, it creates a useless, incombustible mixture that carries disease. But without oxygen, the germs die and the mixture produces a combustible gas."
This biogas -- a mix of carbon dioxide and methane -- can be stored in an adjacent underground chamber and used to power cooking stoves, heat homes or even generate electricity.
"Converting waste into biogas is a win-win strategy," said Sarah Butler-Sloss, founding director of the Ashden Awards, an organization that champions local energy innovations around the world.
"What makes it so elegant is that it resolves a life-threatening sanitation issue -- by treating harmful, waterborne germs -- while simultaneously creating a much-needed source of carbon-free energy," she said.
Butler-Sloss added that recent figures from the U.N. say 1.4 billion people worldwide have no access to electricity, while 2.7 billion still prepare food on grossly inefficient and carbon-hungry open fires.
"We have seen similar projects in places like India and China -- where everything from domestic garbage to animal waste has been used to produce energy with great success ... Clearly this is the time to embrace domestically produced biogas, especially in the developing world."
It's a view shared by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
Patrick Mwefigye is program officer for sustainable consumption and production at UNEP's regional office for Africa. He says that in areas where there is "little funding, capacity or infrastructure" for complex waste management, "we see the production of biogas as having great potential."
At present, Mwefigye says the gas is regularly produced in just a handful of African nations.
"In Rwanda, for instance, the prisons have been fitted with large biogas generators, so that they are almost entirely self-powering," he said.
But, although Obayomi's retrofitted biogas generator is relatively cheap to build -- requiring only low-tech materials such as plastic pipes, cement and sand -- and despite all the recognition it's attracted, only a prototype has been installed so far.
Yet Obayomi conservatively estimates that the average street in Lagos could produce 1,720 liters of biogas a day -- enough for an engine-powered water pump to serve the daily domestic needs of at least 50 families.
So what's the hold-up?
"Biogas generators tend to be constructed in situ," said Butler-Sloss, "And while the materials are relatively cheap, they're not mass-produced like solar panels or wind-turbines so, at present, it's difficult to scale-up."
Obayomi has a different take, however. For him, it's not an issue of resources or need, but attitude.
"Although I've been filmed by government TV and won these awards, no politician has approached me to build anything. In Nigeria there is a lot of talk but very little walk," he lamented.
There is also a problem of credibility, he said. In Obayomi's experience, the hardest place to be taken seriously as a Nigerian inventor is in Nigeria itself.
"It is a new concept for many Nigerians," he said. "There's still this feeling that unless an idea or a piece of new technology comes from the West, then it's not glamorous ... it's not valid."

Don Jazzy Introduces MAVIN

With the arrival of a new recording label, Mavin Records, on the Nigerian music scene, former CEO of Mo’Hits Records and promoter of the new label, Don Jazzy recently revealed that nothing has really changed. Rather it was a mere alteration of the brand name.
Don Jazzy said in an interview with online portal, thenetng.com, that what happened was a great leap, and he was quite upbeat about the label’s prospects.
“It has been a moving trend from Mo’Hits to Mavin. The only thing that has changed is the name and the addition of new people, and basically we will keep moving,” said the famous beat maker.
On the unveiling of Afro-pop diva Tiwa Savage, as first female act on his imprint, Don Jazzy noted that the unveiling of the sexy singer has been a deliberate plan.
“Tiwa Savage and I have been talking about adding a female artiste to Mo’Hits Records for a long time now…We knew from day one when she came into this country that this was going to happen but at that point she was not ready. I have to encourage her to go ahead and make some things for herself which she did wonderfully as an artiste. Now there is room for an addition and so we are continuing from where we stopped,” he revealed.
On Monday 7 May, the Nigerian entertainment industry woke up to read a twitter message by Don Jazzy, announcing the birth of his new music empire, Mavin Records, thus nailing the coffin of the hit music conveyor belt, Mo’Hits Records.
The beat icon ruled the Nigerian and African music scene for eight years, climaxed with the 2011 breakthrough on the international scene with collaborations with American rap star, Snoop Dogg and international recording deal with another hip-hop mogul, Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music.
The new music empire, Mavin Records, has most of the old Mo’Hits Records acts with the inclusion of new signee, Pop sensation, Tiwa Savage.
They already dropped an album titled Solar Plexus, presently ruling the airwaves. The album was produced by Don Jazzy himself.

Will Smith slaps journalist

Hollywood star Will Smith slapped a male television reporter who he said tried to kiss him on the lips as he walked down the red carpet for the Moscow premiere of "Men in Black III."
The reporter from the Ukrainian television channel 1+1, Vitalii Sediuk, made headlines at the Venice Film Festival in September when he presented a bouquet of clearly unappreciated purple hydrangeas to Madonna and called her "my princess."
Smith was even less charmed by the reporter, who approached him on the carpet outside the movie theater on Friday night and tried to kiss him.
"C'mon man, what the hell is your problem buddy?" Smith said as he pushed Serdiuk away and slapped him lightly across the cheek with the back of his left hand.
"He's lucky I didn't sucker punch him," Smith said to the crowd of journalists and fans. "Oh, I said that on camera. It's all good."
He said he thought Sediuk tried to kiss him on the mouth, but it was not clear whether the reporter intended to do so or was aiming for his cheek as Smith swiveled to avoid him.
Madonna rebuffed Sediuk rather ungraciously in Venice, saying: "I absolutely loathe hydrangeas." She stashed the flowers under a table before beginning a press conference.
She later made a short silent video called "Madonna's love letter to hydrangeas." The video begins with a sarcastic apology and concludes with subtitles reading "I'm left with the feeling that I still hate hydrangeas."
