Seyi Shay teams up with Phyno to create history in her new video Mary directed by Meji Alabi for JM Films. The video shot in Lagos is coupled with amazing props and captivating scenes with a brilliant use of lights and effects. The song has an Afro Trap tune originating from the South Side in America aka ‘The Dirty South’ it sees Seyi Shay serenade listeners with her amazing vocals, Mary was the very last song to be recorded for the album and it almost did not make the cut. Phyno delivers playful lyrics which suit the occasion perfectly and adds more colour to the anticipated club banger. Both artists looked dapper and stole the show especially at closing scenes of the video.

Seyi Shay once commented; “the song Mary was inspired by a friend of mine who always attracted major attention from everybody whenever they would enter a party or dance floor because of her bold personality and funky outfits”. Mary was produced by Otee Beats and was co written by Phame and Jade.

L.L.A.M 3: CIARA THRILLS THE CROWD DANCING TO NIGERIAN POPULAR SONGS/STEPS

Last night was epic as Grammy Award winning American sensation Ciara thrilled the crowd at Darey Art Alade's concert Love Like A Movie 3 (L.L.A.M 3) at Eko Convention Center, Lagos.

Just as expected, Ciara, wowed the crowd, as she performed hit after hit, with the crowd singing along with her. She ended the night with an even bigger hit, inviting Nigerian dance queen, Kaffy, on stage to teach her some of the most popular dance moves in the country.

As expected, Olamide’s Shakiti Bobo, Iyanya’s, Kukere and Tecno’s Duro dance, were among the three that made the cut. Ciara, as we all know and trust did not disappoint, as she danced with grace, getting the highest uproar for the night during the three minutes she showed just how good of a dancer she is.

Jada Pinkett-Smith started the 2016 Oscars boycott after her husband Will Smith was snubbed. You would think the host, a black man, Chris Rock, would support his own people...lol...but last night he took a swipe and Jada and Will. He said:
'It's not fair that Will Smith was this good in 'Concussion and didn't get nominated. It's also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for 'Wild Wild West!', was one of Rock's first zingers aimed at the Hollywood power couple.

Then about Jada Pinkett-Smith, Chris Rock said:

'What happened this year? Jada's going to boycott the Oscars. Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna's panties. I wasn't invited! 'It's not an invitation I would turn down.'

Other things he said below...
"You realize if they nominated hosts, I wouldn't even get this job. You'd be watching Neil Patrick Harris right now,'

'It's the 88th Academy Awards, which means this whole no black nominees thing has happened at least 71 other times,'

Speaking on why the furor over diversity in the industry was an issue today rather than in the 1950s or 1960s, Chris Rock said black Americans had bigger issues to worry about then.

'Because we had real things to protest at the time. We were too busy being raped and lynched to care about who won best cinematographer.'

'When your grandmother is swinging from a tree, it's really hard to care about best documentary foreign short.' 

Chris then told a true story that involved President Barack Obama.

'I was at a fundraiser for president Obama, a lot of you were there … It's all of Hollywood and there were four black people there: me, Quincy Jones, Russell Simmons, Questlove. The usual suspects,'

'At some point you get to take a picture with the president. As they're setting up the picture you get a little moment with the president. I'm like, 'Mr. President, you see all these writers producers and actors, they don't hire black people – and they're the nicest white people on Earth. They're liberals!'

Later he talked about racism in Hollywood

'Everyone wants to know in the world, is Hollywood racist? Is it 'burning cross racist'? No. Is it 'fetch me some lemonade racist'? No. It's a different type of racist…. Hollywood is 'sorority racist.' It's like, we like you Rhonda, but you're not a Kappa.'

WAR DRUMS AS PETER OKOYE OF P SQUARE RESPONDS TO GLOBACOM

Award winning dance duo P Square household has been on fire for a while now which resulted to GLO suspending their contract. However, Peter Okoye has finally spoken out on the issue as he took to twitter saying his silence should not be mistaken for weakness. Globacom had earlier refused to renew P Square’s contract as the company’s ambassador. This was due to the showdown that took place between Peter Okoye and representatives of GLO during the grand finale of his popular dance TV show “Dance With Peter”. According to them, Peter didn’t handle the show well, insisted on things that were not part of the contract with Glo as the sole sponsor of the show and overreacted by insulting Glo in the process (unconfirmed inside scoop says it had to do with a well known African American star who was part of the event).

But the daredevil and unarguably widely loved most of the P Square duo has bared his mind on social media (though he has long deleted the tweets) saying he won’t be bullied into submission. Read tweets below:

Falz whose real name is Folarin Falana is the son of highly respected lawyer and activist Femi Falana. He spoke in an interview and shared some interesting things about himself.

1. His stage name FalzTheBahdGuy came from, Falz an abridged version of my last name, Falana.  BAHD Guy is a title and acronym that means Brilliant And Highly Distinct.
2. He has an later ago "I do have an alter ego. His name is Brother Taju. In reality, I am quite shy but when I’m in the booth or on stage, I’m a different character"
3.  The rapper became an Instagram sensation with his funny "Ello Bae" skits however he says he is not a comedian. "I have a passion for film, so acting is something I would probably do sooner than later. I plan to have my own TV show. I’m not a comedian"
4. The 'Marry Me' singer  calls his own genre of music ,it’s called Wazup music
5. Falz was rumoured to be dating Wizkid's baby mama, however when asked about the special woman in his life, he answered saying "I cannot announce one name now because my oga at the top might announce something different."
6. He is currently working on his second album and also working on a collaborative project with an affiliated rapper named Chyn. It’s called the Starsky & Hutch Project.
7. Falz attended St Leos Catholic Primary School, Ikeja Lagos, Olashore International Secondary School, Osun State and read law at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. He moved back to Nigeria to attend law school and was called to bar in February 2012.
8. When asked if he still has a passion for Law, the funny rapper responded saying "I used to go to court, but my schedule as an entertainer is hectic so I’m no longer able to practice. I may still look into that in future".

Weeks back, he revealed that he is working on a song with American rapper, T.I and only yesterday, broke the news that he is also working with rapper Young Thug.

LIST OF OTHER ARTISTES DROPPED BY GLOBACOM

There has been strong news that telecommunication company GLOBACOM dropped pop group P Square as its ambassadors after it was revealed that they were not going to renew their contract.

Apparently Peter Okoye who just wrapped up the first season of his dance show ‘Dance With Peter’ sponsored by GLO was said to have exchanged words with a top executive of the telecoms giants.

When GLO signed P Square in 2010 it was widely regarded as the most expensive endorsement deal in Nigeria. The deal was said to be worth over N100m.

Last year Peter and Paul Okoye renewed their deal as they were given brand new cars. Peter Okoye was given a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon and Paul Okoye took home a brand new Range Rover.

It seems this might be the end of the road for P Square and GLO’s six-year partnership. If this is so some people are of the opinion that they should not be worried about losing their endorsement deal. It might just be a treat. P Square is still listed as an ambassador of GLO on the telco’s official website.

Below is a list of four artistes who were dumped by GLO.

 1) Naeto C

Rapper Naeto C signed an endorsement deal with Mike Adenuga’s telco when the company was on a signing spree. He was however dropped last year maybe because he had not been active for a while. Naeto C did not take to it kindly.

“Globacom is a top brand and I enjoyed the 2 years I spent with them. I didn’t expect to be a lifelong ambassador so it wasn't a big deal. I just hope they appreciated my services and commitment to their platform because when the media was saying I was “dumped” and people were throwing me under the bus, nobody at Globacom said anything.

“I didn’t really like that, I felt it could’ve been handled better. But nevertheless I’m grateful for the opportunity” said Naeto C on Twitter when asked about GLO dropping him.

After leaving GLO Naeto C went ahead to drop two albums ‘Day 1’ and ‘Festival’ in 2015.

2. Lynxxx

The Syndik8 rapper joined GLO also in 2013, but his inactivity within the following years cost him his position as an ambassador of the brand. Lynxxx did not say anything about him being bounced. The rapper has not released new album since his debut album in 2010.

3. Waje

Unknown to many, singer Waje who signed with GLO in 2013 was dropped last year. Lynxxx and Naeto C’s departure made the headlines but Waje’s contract wasn't renewed. For some reason her exit did not make the news. Waje is currently working on her second album.

4. Chee

Many wondered why and how the female singer Chee formerly known as Chidynma came about to be a GLO ambassador. There were stories that she is close friends with Mike Adenuga’s daughter, and they went to the same school. Last year Chee’s deal with GLO was not renewed and she had to make way for the new ambassadors.

SONY MUSIC OPENS OFFICE IN LAGOS WITH MICHAEL UGWU TO MANAGE WEST AFRICA

Sony Music Entertainment has opened an office in Lagos Nigeria recruiting music business entrepreneur Michael Ugwu as General Manager to manage its West African operations. This is part of a long-term strategy to open offices in a number of key markets in the region.

It also recently began the process of registering to do business in Nairobi, Kenya, which will anchor the Sony Music’s physical operations in East Africa.

In connection with the opening of operations in Lagos, Sony Music recently signed Nigerian superstar Davido to a worldwide deal. 

In East Africa, SME has partnered with local artists in the region as well, recently signing Redsan amongst others.

These moves build upon Sony Music's existing business initiatives in Africa, where the company is already a market leader. Sony Music has long had offices in South Africa, in both Johannesburg and Cape Town, and throughout the continent, Sony Music earns revenue from partners including Vevo, YouTube, Apple Music and iTunes. In addition, in West Africa, music content is currently available through MTN Nigeria's service via IMI, and in East Africa it currently conducts trade with Kenya's largest mobile network operator, Safaricom, a company that boasts in excess of 10 million CRBT subscribers.

"Expansion in Africa has been part of our strategy for several years," said Adam Granite, President, Northern & Eastern Europe andAfrica, Sony Music International. ISIS THREATENS FACEBOOK AND TWITTER CEOs

The founders and chief executives of Facebook and Twitter have been threatened by a group with ties to the militant Islamists that calls themselves Islamic State (ISIS).

Posting a 25-minute roughly put-together video on social media site Telegram, a group calling itself the "Sons of the Caliphate Army" vows to retaliate against attempts by the social media companies to close accounts belonging to supporters of ISIS.

The video was discovered by analysts at media and tech company Vocativ in the deep web – the part of the internet not accessible via standard search engines -- and shows images of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey, the head of Twitter, covered with bullet holes at one point.

"To Mark and Jack, founders of Twitter and Facebook and to their Crusader government. You announce daily that you suspended many of our accounts and to you we say: Is that all you can do?" the message on the video states, according to Vocativ.

The video message goes on to threaten Zuckerberg and Dorsey stating: "You are not in our league. If you close one account we will take 10 in return and soon your names will be erased after we delete you (sic) sites, Allah willing."

ISIS is well-known for its sophisticated use of social media to disseminate its ideology, making it a key target for authorities looking to combat the group and its influence. In the video, the hackers claim they control more than 10,000 Facebook accounts, 150 Facebook groups and 5,000 Twitter profiles.

Earlier this month Twitter said in a blog that it had suspended 125,000 accounts "for threatening or promoting terrorist acts, primarily related to ISIS." Likewise, Vocativ noted that Facebook has said that it works to ensure that terrorists don't use the site and removes content supporting terrorism.

Commenting on the video, Twitter told The Guardian Newspaper on Wednesday that threats against Dorsey were now so common they wouldn't be releasing any official response. "It just happens all the time," a spokesman said, the paper reported. Facebook has not commented on the video.

Ronaldo became the first athlete to cross the 100 million barrier on Facebook in 2014, and today he is the third celebrity to cross the 200 million threshold across the three major platforms. Ronaldo joins Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift in the 200 million club.

The social breakdown for Ronaldo is 109.7 million fans on Facebook, 49.6 million on Instagram and 40.7 million on Twitter. Seven-four percent of his 41.8 million new followers in 2015 were on Instagram.

Ronaldo’s following speaks to the massive global appeal of soccer. His social media base is greater than the combined followings of basketball icons Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. Ronaldo has three times as many followers as all Major League Baseball players combined. James is the No. 1 athlete in North America with 69 million followers, according to Hookit.

The Real Madrid star’s greatest following comes from the U.S. where he has 13.5% of his social media fans. Other top countries for Ronaldo are France (7.4%), Brazil (6.4%), Mexico (6.2%) and the U.K. (5%). He has an attentive audience with his average post on Facebook or Instagram averaging one million interactions over the past six months. A November 2014 Facebook photo with his son racked up 4.8 million interactions, while his top Instagram post was a birthday thank you this month with 1.7 million likes (Ronaldo turned 31).

The huge, active following is a major benefit for endorsement partners like Nike, Tag Heuer and Herbalife, who can tap Ronaldo’s fans. It also helps Ronaldo earn $27 million annually off the pitch. Ronaldo was the third highest-paid athlete in the world last year with total earnings of $79.5 million, including his Real salary.
