Ode to A Great Journalist Ogbonna Amadi
The Entertainment Editor of Vanguard Newspaper, Ogbonna Amadi was reported dead on Wednesday evening. He died at a hospital in Apapa. He was said to have caught a cold
at his office in Apapa and was rushed to the company's clinic where he
gave up the ghost in what was diagonized as an asthma attack.
He had been a veteran entertainment journalist for over two decades.
I recall last year when my dear friend and client Obiajulu Nwaozor a.k.a MC Loph was involved in a ghastly motor accident that claimed his life, he (Mr Amadi) was the first press man to call me and inquire about the details of the car crash and ensured me that he would do anything in his power to ensure that the media would give all support towards the burial arrangements for my dear late friend.
Words cannot fathom my shock on hearing of your passage. I begin to wonder if life is worth all the stress we go through. We sleep, wake, eat, work, celebrate, bear off-springs, hustle etc all to no avail of the inevitable...Death. To say I am short of words is an understatement...Bros...we last saw in Ikeja at a press conference and you said.."Ah Toscar the Dada...how you dey naa? No worry someday it will be better". Bros I feel it is well as it's only in death can one say one has defeated death as there is nothing else it can do us in that state. Adieu Bros...adieu my media mentor adieu!!!
May your gentle Soul Rest In Peace.
He had been a veteran entertainment journalist for over two decades.
A reporter until the last minute, Amadi
was passionate about general entertainment. He spent his entire career
on the beat – gathering news, setting the agenda for the industry,
mentoring young reporters and making sure The Vanguard Newspapers where he worked
for many years gave prominence to entertainment in a country where
politics and business news are considered more important than
entertainment content.
The management of Vintage Media, publishers of Vanguard Newspapers is yet to
make any official statement of this report.

Berlin agog for Nollywood@20
It's about 20 years that the historic home video, Living in Bondage, made a debut. That film, apart from the innovation of affordable production, from the complex norm of celluloid, afforded fun-seekers the leisure of home relaxation. Although the film, Ekun, by Alade Aromire preceded this release, the popularity of Living in Bondage has remained the yardstick of what today has come to be known as Nollywood. 20 years after, the innovation of smart and cost effective production that has come to be known as Nollywood is being celebrated at different levels of the Nigerian motion picture industry. But perhaps one of the biggest celebrations is one that is being planned by the Nigerian community in Germany in association with Association of Movie Producers (AMP), under the leadership of Zik Zulu.
It would be noted that, despite the general short comings of the industry and its practitioners, the need for celebration is indispensable, considering that Nollywood became a national income alternative to agriculture and oil when, 20 years ago, a few professional dramatists and business men, dealing in blank video cassettes, saw the need to record dramas for home viewing. This evolution which was traced to names like Alade Aromire, with Ekun (1987) and Kenneth Nnebue who did Living in Bondage (1992), was followed suit with Gabriel Okoye's Battle of Musanga and Nneka the Pretty Serpent. Thus, the wide acceptance of these flicks by movie buffs could be said to have opened the floodgate to the craze of direct-to-video productions.

Chuddy K Dropped From “Next Rated” Category...HEADIES 2012 NOMINEE LIST:
A statement from the organizers reads: ‘Evidence has emerged that Chuddy K previously released an album titled “I Am Me” in 2010 and therefore will not be listed in the Next Rated category’.
Up and coming rapper, Flowssick whose single "Low Key" took the music industry by storm has now been nominated to replace Chuddy K in that category which also boasts of heavy weights such as Davido, Eva Alordiah, and Praiz.
However Chuddy K is still in contention to win in three other catergories he was previously nominated to spar in – ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Best pop single’ and ‘Best street Hop’.

HEADIES 2012...NOMINEE LIST
Top Nigerian female singer, Omawumi Megbele and rapper, Jude 'M.I' Abaga
have been announced as hosts for the 7th edition of The Headies;
Nigeria's biggest music honours event.
Announcing this, executive producer Ayo Animashaun said the pair have been selected in line with the awards' tradition of picking talented and inspiring entertainers, to front an awards ceremony that parades some of the continent's biggest entertainers.
Omawumi, 30, came second on West Africa Idol, in 2007. Her success on that show provided a strong foundation for her career, and she hasn't looked back for a minute. With her debut single ‘In the music' released in 2008, she established herself as a talent to court, and a singer whose eyes are on the global stage.
The success of that single, won her the coveted 'Next Rated' prize at The Headies in 2009. The award came with a brand new KIA Optima. Omawumi has moved on to become a remarkably successful singer, actor, performer and philanthropist.
For M.I, he has risen from grass to grace, in just about half a decade. And, from a Jos-bred wannabe, who worked hard to find a niche in the hip hop community, M.I has now become the leading rapper and hip hop ambassador on the continent, with many medals to show for his achievements.
The Chocolate City rapper is a multiple winner at The Headies, with his prizes including Best Rap Album and Revelation of the year (both in 2009). He has won a total of 9 Headies, starting from his first surprise win in 2008.
Both acts have already been getting together, sharing ideas and fine-tuning concepts, along with The Headies producers, in anticipation of a great show this year.
The Headies 2012 will hold at the Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday October 20. Now in its seventh year, The Headies (also known as Hip Hop World Awards) is Nigeria's premiere honours event for urbane music and hip hop culture.
Produced and presented to match some of the biggest awards shows from around the world, The Headies annually celebrate deserving Nigerian music stars, giving honour to whom it is due, and encouraging many to step up their game in order to enter The prestigious Headies alumni.

Brief Biography
Kelly Rowland (born Kelendria Trene Rowland on February 11, 1981) is an American recording artist, songwriter, dancer, actress and television personality. Born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Houston, Texas, Rowland rose to fame as one of the founding members of the American R&B girl group Destiny's Child, one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time, who have sold 50 million records worldwide.
During the hiatus of Destiny's Child, Rowland released her debut solo album Simply Deep in 2002, which contained influences of alternative-R&B and rock music. It included her joint worldwide number-one single "Dilemma" with rapper Nelly, and the international top-ten hit "Stole". Following the group's disbandment in 2005, Rowland released her second solo effort Ms. Kelly in 2007 and despite being less successful than its predecessor, it included the international top-ten singles "Like This" and "Work". In 2009, Rowland scored her second worldwide number-one hit with French DJ David Guetta, on his single "When Love Takes Over". Her third solo album Here I Am was released in 2011 and included the UK top-ten singles "Commander" and "Down for Whatever", as well as the US R&B number-one "Motivation".
As a solo artist, Rowland has amassed estimated sales of four million albums and 18 million lead/featured singles worldwide. Rowland's work has earned her several achievements, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with Destiny's Child, four Grammy Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, and a Soul Train Music Award. Rowland has been honored by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and Essence magazine for her contributions to music.
Apart from her work in music, Rowland has also launched a career in film and television. In 2002, she made her acting debut with guest appearances on sitcom series The Hughleys and Taina, prior to appearing in various films, including Freddy vs. Jason (2003), The Seat Filler (2004) and Think Like a Man (2012). In 2007, Rowland appeared as a choirmaster on the reality show Clash of the Choirs, and in 2009 she served as the host on Bravo's reality competition series The Fashion Show alongside Isaac Mizrahi. In 2011, Rowland joined the judging panel on the eighth series of The X Factor (UK), but left after one season to become a dance master on the first series of the Australian dance talent show Everybody Dance Now, in 2012.

I Still Love Chris Brown - Rihanna
Rihanna and Chris Brown have long been ex-lovers, since
Brown infamously assaulted her in 2009, but there is still a lot of
love that exist between the two. Rih Rih said as much in her primetime
interview on Oprah's Next Chapter on Sunday.
Asked by host Oprah Winfrey where her relationship with Brown stood today, a teary-eyed Rihanna flatly stated, "I STILL LOVE HIM."
"We're very, very close friends," Rihanna explained. "We built a trust again and that's it. We love each other and we probably always will."
The 24-year-old international star admits that she does see her ex-beau from time to time, but the relationship is strictly platonic. While she recognizes Brown is in a relationship and she is single, the "We Found Love" singer confessed, "I think he was the love of my life."
As she's been asked to do over and over in nearly every interview she's done since the 2009 incident, which occurred on Grammy night in Los Angeles, Rihanna recalled her feelings following the domestic dispute.
"It was a weird, confusing space to be in," Rihanna told Oprah. "Because as angry as I was, as angry and hurt and betrayed, I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help and who's going to help him? Nobody's going to say he needs help. Everybody's going to say he's a monster without looking at the source, and I was more concerned about him."
Aside from discussing her relationship with Brown, Rih Rih took Oprah on a tour of her native island Barbados while opening up about family and her career.
I WON....LOL
