Rihanna Sued by David LaChapelle Over "S&M" Video, Say Reports

A lawsuit filed by photographer David LaChapelle claims that pop star Rihanna ripped him off in the video for her new single, "S&M," according to reports. The suit claims that the video - which has been banned in some countries because of its overt sexual imagery - "is directly derived from and substantially similar to...LaChapelle works."
LaChapelle has previously worked with Rihanna, but did not work with her on this video. A source told the site that the video's director, Melina Matsoukas, had copies stills of LaChapelle's on the set of the video shoot.
So, what's the same? According to the Daily Mail, LaChapelle says only the "composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colours, props, settings, decors, wardrobe and lighting."
That about covers it, doesn't it?
There were side by side photos that do suggest similarities between the video and LaChapelle's work, including a woman leading a man around on a leash while carrying a riding crop. La Chappelle says that Rihanna and Matsoukas appropriated eight of his images in the video, including one in which the singer is set against a blue background with a piece of candy in her mouth.
LaChapelle's photos have appeared in numerous magazines, including Vogue, GQ and Vanity Fair, and he has directed videos for artists such as Kelis, Christina Aguilera and Amy Winehouse. He is reportedly suing for unspecified damages.
