LAGOS HOSTS GRAMMY AWARD WINNER NORMAN BROWN AT SATCHMOS JAZZ AND CULTURE FESTIVAL 2016

The Satchmo’s Jazz and Culture Festival, Lagos (SJL) kicks-off with an exciting program of public events that commence from Wednesday 27th April 2016 all through to Sunday 1st May, 2016.

We’ve become much more than a jazz music festival by creating an exciting tapestry of entertaining events including festive threads of jazz (and nu-jazz) music, as well as jazz-inspired visual and literary artists to show you Satchmo’s view of Lagos. Other activities include Jazz party at the Park, a Yacht Cruise, jazz inspired films, food, drinks, fun and an incredible experience at our participating venues.
We present a truly exciting musical line-up, featuring top domestic and international artists such as Norman Brown, Rick Braun, Carlo Rossi & the Organic Jam, Femi Leye, Jon Scott, Imoleayo Balogun, Godwin Strings and Phebean. In addition, SJL ’16 will host numerous jazz events at participating venues citywide.

From the main stage at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, Victoria Island, and other venues, participating galleries, restaurants, and hotels, the festival will reach thousands of live attendees and visitors throughout Lagos.
But the Sachmo’s mission only starts there. We are set up to promote the advancement of jazz music and jazz music education and this year, 10% of festival profits are earmarked to support acquisition of equipment, for teaching grants, and to disseminate information about jazz music in Nigeria.
