Born Shawn Carter a.k.a Jay Z, the Brooklyn native tallied $37 million making this the fourth time in five years Hov has claimed the crown of cash king. Right behind Jay is Sean “Diddy” Combs, who was just short of the top spot by raking in a cool $35 million. Kanye West came in at a respectable but still distant third with $16 million.
YMCMB brethren Lil Wayne and Birdman rang in at fourth and fifth place respectively but tying the same numbers in earning $14 million each. Rounding out the top ten is Eminem, Snoop Dogg, R&B singer Akon and rapper/actor Ludacris. Wiz Khalifa makes the list for the first time at eleventh spot, earning $11 million dollars with the rapper’s heavy tour schedule boosting his visibility and album sales.
Young Money is represented well in the top 20 as Canadian heartthrob Drake tied Wiz with $11 million in earnings in claiming the twelfth spot. Rounding out the rest of the list are Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Cash King top earning record holder 50 Cent, Pitbull T-Pain and B.o.B.
