Lagos will play host to an August visitor in a few weeks. American R ‘N’ B singer, Chante Moore, is coming to headline the True Health Foundation charity concert holding on August 20. A statement made available to E-Punch by the organisers, Virtual Xchange, avers that Moore’s lush vocals and powerful stage presence will be felt by music lovers, especially those sympathetic to the True Health Foundation cause.
The non-governmental organisation was set up in 2010 to help in addressing the need for more funding for medicare of the less privileged in the society. “The foundation has identified as its first project the provision of dialysis facilities in select government-owned hospitals in the South-West, Nigeria. The foundation seeks to raise $1.2million to equip10 designated public hospitals,” the statement reads. The choice of Moore as the headlining artiste, despite her declining popularity on the global music scene, is predicated on the fact that between 2006 and 2010, she had to personally deal with chronic kidney failure with the attendant huge costs for dialysis. She had a successful transplantation in May 2010. It is the realisation of how close she was to death, while many less privileged persons across the world were not that lucky, that has made her commit herself to the service of humanity.
