News reports have revealed
that the President of the Nigerian Federation, Buhari Muhammadu, has sacked
over 23 director generals, including veteran musician, Onyeka Onwenu.
The News reports
that over 23 director generals and managing directors of agencies and
departments of government have been sacked today.
From the Ministry of Information, including the heads
of Voice of Nigeria, NTA, News Agency of Nigeria, FRCN, National Broadcasting
Commission and National Orientation Agency, had been asked to leave today.
A statement signed by Mr. Babachir David Lawal, Secretary to the Government of the
Federation announcing the sack of directors-general of many agencies of
government, revealed the development.
During the statement, Lawal said:
“The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has
approved the immediate disengagement of the following Chief Executive Officers
of the under listed Parastatals, Agencies and Commissions.
“He
has also approved that the most senior officers in the Parastatals, Agencies
and Councils oversee the activities of the organizations pending the
appointment of substantive Chief Executive Officers.”
Amongst those affected was veteran musician, Onyeka
Onwenu who had been appointed MD Bank of Industry amongst many others.
