MOVIE PREMIERE: THE CHAMPION SPORTSMAN BY AZUBUIKE ERINUGHA

John Okafor, Mr. Ibu, as Okoro Ajonuma goes to Germany with a "wrong" passport. With the origin of his documents revealed, Okoro seeks ways to manipulate his way through language, legal, financial and even sporting realities! Subtle comedy on migration policy filmed in Berlin, Germany and Okigwe, Nigeria.

SYNOPSIS
The Nigerian Okoro Ajonuma beats all odds to reach his desired destination, Berlin Germany. His goal of spending just six months in Europe before returning home with four “forty-foot” containers seems unrealisable. Okoro finds settling down in Europe not only a mirage but a “boxing ring” compared to what he had imagined. He must fight his ways through daily disappointments, living disparities, severe language conflict, job searches, money problems, status issues, racial confrontations as well as nostalgia and recurring culture shocks. At the same time, Okoro has to deal with huge financial demands coming from home. This is in tune with his family and friends conviction that Okoro is in a paradise called Europe.

In order to impress his village elders, friends and family at home, Okoro finds himself running from one trouble to the next until his arrest and process for deportation! Does Okoro have a choice? How is he going to bear the shame awaiting him back home as a total failure? Will Okoro finally discover the fastest way of making his millions in Europe, or go back home broke to face ridicules and stigmatization from his own people? The Champion Sportsman, a subtle comedy with a grim sense of humour, shows in parodies, the real obstacles an African immigrant in Germany really has to face.
