Lagos State University (L.A.S.U) was graced by the presence of Mavin GrandPa of the Supreme Mavin Dynasty (S.M.D) where he delivered a magnificent speech of a lifetime on the future of music business entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
The annual occasion hosted by the Theater Arts and Music Department of the institution of higher learning has played host to the likes of Noble Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka, Yinka Davies, Dede Mabiaku and many other notable icons.
This year they honoured the Mavin GrandPa Chief Collins Ifeanyi Onwuneme Ajereh Enebeli) the father of legendary music producer and Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy. The event was spectacular with students in full attendance alongside stars like SMD's D'Prince (Omoba) and Dija, Ayo Bankole Jnr, Dr, Richard Donald Smith (from the United States of America), Tolu Adesina (MTN Project Fame 2nd runner up 2011), Valoski, Shadura Chant, PMAN executive/veteran rapper Asha Gangali, Artist Managers Association in Nigeria (AMAN) Lagos State Chapter chairman Apostle Dr. Emeka George, MC Brandmollar, veteran musicians Baba Fryo, Stella Monye, the legendary rainmaker Majek Fashek and other music industry stakeholders plus other diginatries.
There were performances by some student up and coming acts and special vintage guest performances by Majek Fashek and Stella Monye in honour of the Mavin GrandPa.
The occasion came to an end with a vote of thanks from the Head of Department Theater Arts & Music Dr. Femi Faseun and the president of the Music Student Association of Nigeria (MUSAN) Bolanle Osilokun. There was a Merit Award for Excellence presented to the Mavin GrandPa for his contributions to the growth of the music and entertainment industry in Nigeria.
