SPECIAL FEATURE: EX-BBN STAR IFU ENNADA TALKS ADULT SEXUAL ABUSE VIA TWEETCHAT ON #HotTalkWithBlecyn

In the aftermath of a sexual assault or rape, survivors can face extremely difficult and painful emotions and experiences. Every survivor has their own way of dealing with the aftermath of sexual abuse, while some others never really get over it. The effects of the trauma can be short-term or last long after the sexual assault or rape.

Actress/Producer/Ex BBN Star Ifu Ennada disclosed her ordeal on Big Brother Nigeria and how she got infected with an STI. Creator/Host of #HotTalkWithBlecyn Ms Blecyn George Monsi thought it would be nice for her to share with #HotTalkWithBlecyn audience on tweechat, how she was able to deal with the outcome.
After agreeing to discuss this topic on the night conversation, Ifu had a second thought on the day of the discourse and almost pulled out, but Blecyn was quite persuasive and was able to convince the ex BBN Star to understand the need of speaking out and become a voice for other women who do not have a voice, and yes she finally obliged.

Read all about the conversation with #HotTalkWithBlecyn below:

Blecyn George Monsi: Usual we start with a personality test questions, so tell us one thing you'd never do for money.
Ifu Ennada: There are so many things I'd never do for money, but top off my head is this - I'd never trade sex for money.

Blecyn George Monsi: In your own words, could you please share with us what is “ADULT SEXUAL ABUSE”
Ifu Ennada: I believe adult sexual abuse is any unwanted sexual contact directed towards an adult or one that comes from an adult. It includes sexual assault, harassment and rape.
I believe adult sexual abuse is any unwanted sexual contact directed towards an adult or one that comes from an adult. It includes sexual assault, harassment and rape.

Blecyn George Monsi: When referring to those who have faced sexual abuse (male or female) would you rather call them VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE or SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL ABUSE.
Ifu Ennada: The terms used here define different things. Not all sexual abuse victims are sexual abuse survivors. Some get depressed and never recover from it…they never get to the survival stage…being a sexual abuse victim is not something to wish anyone.

Blecyn George Monsi: To your knowledge, how does ‘Sexual Abuse’ affect those who have been faced with it physically and emotionally?
Ifu Ennada: It affects its victims immensely. Aside my experience I did some research when writing and producing my film..I discovered some people never recover from it. Some are scarred for life…depression; trust issues and moments of bitterness are common with victims.

Blecyn George Monsi: Most victims would rather keep their abuser and the entire situation a secret. What do you think about secrecy by victims?
Ifu Ennada: Honestly I can’t blame any victim who decides to keep it secret, because in this part of the world, most times they get insults from the society instead of help. I haven’t heard the last of it from these people who suffer this affliction of bullying victims.

Blecyn George Monsi: To the best of your knowledge, how does this abuse affect survivors’ relationships with the opposite sex over time?
Ifu Ennada: Victims of sexual abuse suffer from trust issues, I’m not sure if they ever recover from it completely to the extent of letting the opposite sex into their world without any fears. I know I still have my fears, but I’m more equipped to defend myself.

Blecyn George Monsi: What advice would you give to a victim of sexual abuse who ends up pregnant as a result?
Ifu Ennada: Honestly I don’t know if I have an answer for this because the life of a baby is involved here…but they should get tested to make sure they’re not carrying any STI and take the decision that’s right by God. They should also seek professional help.

Blecyn George Monsi: You made it known in your short film that you were sexually abused, how did you deal with it & have you really recovered?
Ifu Ennada: Honestly I don’t know if I’ve completely recovered from that. I still have trust issues, I still don’t think I’d get into any love relationship with any man, but I know I’m not depressed anymore and I want to help anyone who’s suffered any form of sexual abuse.

Blecyn George Monsi: If you see your abuser in a party, or somewhere that requires close contact, what would be your reaction?
Ifu Ennada: I can’t say how I’d react… He called me some weeks ago, but I literally froze… I’m sure of one thing though, when the time is right, I’d get him. He’s powerful in his own right and would frustrate me if I sue him now…I’m getting ready, I’d make him pay.
My short film is called Tears of A Broken Virgin.

ARTISTE MANAGERS ASSOCIATION IN NIGERIA REMEMBERS FOUNDING PRESIDENT CHIEF GILBERT ODIGIE OBOH

Nigeria's premiere talent managers body Artiste Managers Association in Nigeria AMAN today remembers their founding president Chief Gilbert Odigie Oboh who passed on 9th June 2002. In his memorial message to members, one of the founding fathers of the body and present President Mr Collins Enebeli had this to say,

"On behalf of the board of trustees, national executives and the entire members of AMAN, we wish to pay our respect to the memory of our late founding president Chief Gilbert Odigie Oboh who passed on to glory sixteen years ago on the 9th of June 2002. His vision, pioneering efforts and focused leadership was highly instrumental to the formation and registration of AMAN but God knows the best as he did not live long enough to translate his dreams of a strong AMAN to reality. God called him home too soon at age 45 and we can not question God. In his memory, We remember him today as always and continue to pray for his gentle and loving soul to continue to rest in perfect peace. Our consolation is that we are keeping the flag flying and know that his spirit will be happy that we have not let him down and his efforts towards the establishment of AMAN is not in vain. May his soul continue to rest in peace. Sleep on, our dear founding president".

He would be dearly missed and his footprints in seeing the profession of talent management in Nigeria to be raised to an elevated position would always remembered.
