MEET NIGERIA'S FIRST FEMALE RECORD LABEL OWNER - DON SUSSY (C.E.O OF SUSTONE RECORDS)

She goes by the name Susan Opute-Somosu a.k.a Don Sussy. The soft spoken business lady whose enterprise extends even to the property industry and fashion sect is the major hair extension entrepreneur in Namibia. The graduate of Mathematics and Statistics from University of Lagos is a certified Oracle/Data Base professional and also a Master Degree holder in Business Administration.

The astute business lady, who was born in Lagos but hails from Delta State, says her love for music stemmed from an assistance to an upcoming talent (who asked she manage him) from where she grew to love the industry.

She is a staunch believer in setting milestones a fete she exemplifies with the enviable position of being the first lady to own a record label in Nigeria. She is the C.E.O of “SUSTONES RECORDS”.

The delectable Susan Opute-Somosu caused a revolution in Namibian music industry. She floated a multi-media entertainment empire in the small South African nation, a feat achieved not only as a foreigner, but as a woman.

In Windhoek, Susan owns a state-of-the-art private music production and recording facilities. And the empire’s flagship, Sustones Records, since its birth last year, has become the ‘go to’ studio in that country. The same feat she wants to replicate in her home country, Nigeria.
The record label which is barely a year old is bent on taking the music industry to a different level of professional with the fastidious business acumen of its owner.

Don Sussy is a patriotic go-getter who has carried on the Nigerian tradition of never-say-die and has made so much impact in Namibia where she currently resides that she is recognised as a music industry power house over there. But like the saying goes, charity begins at home that is why she has decided to flag off her record label Sustones Records back home in Nigeria. And she has come to stay in a music industry that has the world at awe with its vast talents causing quite a stir globally.

In a recent interview, she had this to say, “It is obvious that Nigeria is brimming with lots of talents that still need exposure. Sustones Records is coming to give voice to those talents and help them in the pursuit of their career,”
Reminded of the nature of music labels in Nigeria and being the first female label owner in this era, Susan said she’s up to the task.
“First and foremost, I am not here in Nigeria to compete with anybody but to create my own brand. And besides, my personal mantra is ‘make hardwork and prayer your habit; success would be yours’. With this always at the back of my mind, I move on with what I planned to do. Sustones is coming to stay in Nigeria and we are poised to let the world know of our vast talents,” she boasted.

Susan said Sustones Records studio is designed and equipped to handle tracking, over dub, vocal problems, key and pitch correction, mix and remix, stereo and 5.1 surround mixing, digital mastering and analogue/digital formats combined or separate.

Her personal mantra “make hard work and prayer your habit; success would be your lifestyle”, shows that Don Sussy is an iron lady who would make a mark in the Nigeria music industry.

The first artiste signed to Sustones Records by name Naija Boy who currently relocated to Nigeria is in the studios recording his fresh debut singles under Sustones Records with notable producers at Sustones Studios and would soon hit the airwaves.
Don Sussy plans to replicate her Namibian experience at home with the introduction of Naija Boy to the Nigerian music industry.

She said Naija Boy is an artiste whose style of music will easily be attractive to Nigerian music audience because he plays what is known as House music with some Afrobeat flavour.
