Meet Tim Scott, the New Black U.S. Senator

When members of the U.S. Senate are sworn in on Jan. 3, 2013, all eyes will be on newly minted senator Tim Scott. While he and most Democrats have little to nothing in common, they consider him to be both honorable and likeable. Scott's appointment to replace retiring Sen. Jim DeMint is history making, but as you will learn here, it's not his first time making history.
When South Carolina Rep. Tim Scott, who was one of just two Black members in the House of Representatives, takes the oath of office in the U.S. Senate on Jan. 3, he will become the upper chamber's sole African-American.

Mississippi, Massachusetts, Illinois and now South Carolina are the only states that have ever sent an African-American senator to Washington. Scott will be the first African-American Republican to serve in the Senate since Edward W. Brooke.
Scott says the issue of his race has never been brought up on the campaign trail. “They’ve asked me questions about values and issues, and that’s an amazing thing," he told the Associated Press.
Scott, a Tea Party darling, is unapologetically pro-life, anti-marriage equality, supports small government and the Second Amendment, including several bills that support gun owners' rights.
Scott's first elective office was Charleston County Council member in 1995, beating a popular Democrat and becoming the first African-American Republican to be elected to any office in South Carolina since Reconstruction. He served on the council for 13 years and was elected its chairman four times.
Scott, elected to Congress in 2010, won the seat by defeating Paul Thurmond, son of the legendary segregationist Strom Thurmond, in the district where the first shots of the Civil War were fired.
Scott was elected president of his House freshman class. Majority Leader Eric Cantor once described him as "leadership personified."

Unlike fellow Black Republican Rep. Allen West, Scott chose to not join the Congressional Black Caucus. He appreciated the invitation he said at the time, but his "campaign was never about race."

Scott was raised by a single mother who worked 16 hours a day as a nurses' assistant to support him and his brother.
In addition to his mother, who "never quit" on him, Scott credits an early mentor John Moniz, an evangelical conservative and Chick-fil-A franchise owner, with his success. "He taught me how to be more valuable in my own eyes so that later I could be more valuable at work," Scott has said
After graduating from Charleston Southern University in 1988, Scott worked in the insurance industry and soon opened his own agency, Tim Scott Allstate, which he still owns. He also is a partner in a local real estate group.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Scott recalls being bullied in high school and college because he was poor and because his teeth went in two different directions. It "made my will to succeed even stronger," he said.

FRANK OCEAN BUSTED...SPEEDING AND MARIJUANA POSSESSION

After a breakout year in 2012, Frank Ocean has gotten off to a shaky start in 2013. California police popped the Odd Future crooner on New Year's Eve for marijuana possession and speeding.

Ocean was pulled over for doing 90 in a 65. During the traffic stop police detected the scent of weed emanating from the luxury BMW. Upon searching the vehicle they found a small bag of marijuana in the car. They also discovered that the singer was driving with a suspended license.

Though he was not arrested on the scene Ocean was cited for marijuana possession, driving with a suspended license and for having tinted windows. Though the police took the "Bad Religion" singer's driver's license, they were kind enough to give him a ride home for his troubles.

HIS RESPONSE

After being cited for possession of marijuana when he was pulled over for speeding, Frank kept it honest on Twitter:

Woman files $80 million suit, pens book about reggae star

A spurned ex-lover is attempting to hit Sean Paul where it hurts — his wallet and his reputation. The woman, Swiss-born Susanne Persson, is suing Paul in a New York court for $80 million, claiming the massively popular reggae singer had her deported from Jamaica and drove her to attempt suicide.

Legal documents from the suit, obtained by the New York Post, include an illustrated tell-all book filled with embarrassing allegations about Paul's personal life. In the book, Persson alleges that Paul has a cocaine addiction, is connected with murders in Jamaica and has difficulty sustaining an erection. She also claims that Paul had her forcibly removed from the country in 2010 by bribing police to have her put on a plane back to Stockholm. She provides a receipt from the plane ticket, which was paid for by Paul's promotions company, Headline Entertainment.

Before she left Jamaica, Persson says she tried to commit suicide.

"I had tried to kill myself, losing more than one liter of blood from a cut on my wrist,” she writes in the court filing. “I had shown the pictures of the cuts to Sean over the Internet. I feel he should see what he had caused.”

Paul's lawyer, Tom Taveres-Finson, denies Persson's allegations.

Robotic Man is an enlightened entertainer who has had the privilege of studying at various institutions: Civil Engineering Bsc, Nnamdi Azikiwe 2003, Computer Engineering/Installation(Nexus Africa), Pro Tools Studio (Engineering Advanced Class) Lagos, Final Cut Video Editing
Programme (Del-York, New York Film Academy 2011).

As productive and prolific entity, he has the credit of revolutionizing the entertainment scenario in the Oil City of Warri. He has trained lots of people to become good music producers/studio engineers, dancers, singers, speakers among many other things.

A few years ago, he released his maiden album entitled ''Kpro 4 Me'' which was marketed by Danco Music International. The album was suspended along the way by dint of certain factors which prevented it's promotion. Robotic Man was out of action, in terms of releasing songs for about two years after this episode.

Today, he is the owner of Nubreed International Dance Studios and Nubreed Audio Factory a music production house, a place where he produces high quality music for people within and outside Nigeria. He regularly conducts training for music producers, speakers and singers in various geographical locations in the country.

His vision in the entertainment industry is to make meaningful music,entertain the world with his powerful dance moves and customized robotic performances,help talented people to realise their dreams by creating an enabling environment for their talents to excel and continue to be a resource and inspiration to many who aspire to reach the peak of their passion.

Currently, he is working on his second album, which is fundamentally gospel centered and a step by step video tutorial series tagged ''Robotic Man's Guide to Street Dance''. Thus, we are talking about two soon coming releases: A musical album and series of dance tutorial videos from one of Africa's most talented entertainers.
