Nigeria is undoubtedly blessed with talents
in all spheres of life. One of such talents is Delta State protege Tony Dafe
Ighofose, a final year student of Business Administration from the Lagos
State University (LASU).
Though an aspiring business administrator, Tony Stage as he’s popularly called is drive
n
by one passion....Music!
Career:
As a teenager, singing for him started from
church, where he was a lead singer in the choir, before he later delved
into commercial music. As an easy going person, Tony Stage is
naturally inclined to R&B though he could sway to hip-hop and
highlife music.

| At Idols West Africa |
His passion for music led him to the 1st edition of Idols West
Africa competition organized by the then CELTEL but now AIRTEL and
Pan Africa. He qualified as part of the top 24 singers from an
auditioning of about 5,000 people. Though he couldn’t make the top ten
list, Tony says aside the experience, friendship was the major gift he
got from the competition. Life for him after Idols wasn’t so easy as its
so hard to get your break. he says however, he’s been able to adjust
back to his normal life, fitting into the usual everyday life. The Lagos State born Artiste said his participation at Idols
opened doors for him in terms of his music career. Though he hasn’t
really been in the light because he decided to take time off to re-brand
himself as an Artiste, he has performed in fashion shows, and also
featured in albums of up coming Artistes like Tosin, Igho, Big Lo among
others. He writes all his songs and does all backing vocals. His debut single titled
"Specially for You" (a combination of highlife and R&B ) enjoyed tremendous airplay across radio stations in Nigeria.
On his take about the Nigerian Music industry, this
is what he says " the Nigerian Music industry is doing fantastic. In spite of odds like piracy, they have still been able to produce good
videos, win both local and international awards, its a huge
achievement".
Role Models:
He’s inspired by artistes like R Kelly, Usher, Sisqo,
Neyo, Chris Brown, Lionel Riche, and Beyonce. On the home front Tony
Stage admires Tuface Idibia, and Banky W for their passion and vocal
skills.
The name TONY STAGE for him represents every stage of his
life. The R&B singer also has about 12 songs to his kitty. Aside
music, Tony presently works as a freelance Marketer and in his spare
time he writes songs, plays volleyball and basketball.
Tony wants to be
taken seriously about his music as he has so much to offer. He has been
fighting for his dream a long time now and will never give up his dream.
His message for his fans out there is "don’t give up on your dream,
delay is not denial, stay focused"
