TUFACE SAYS "I DO" TO ANNIE MACAULAY

THE ONLY WAY TO DEFEAT YOUR RIVAL IS NOT BY GUNS, POWER OR MONEY.
IT'S BY SHOWING "THE WILL" TO DO WHAT HE CANNOT DO.

Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...You give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. Some say "I hate love"..... But then again I'd be nothing without Loving You.

BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL
BUT NOT AS BEAUTIFUL IF NOT ON THE AFRICAN WOMAN
WITH LONG SILKY BLACK HAIR
A FACE THAT LIGHTENS ALL GLOOMINESS
A SMILE THAT GLADDENS THE DOWNTRODDEN
A BODY WITH THE RIGHT CURVES, CONTOURS AND CLEAVAGES
LIKE THE SUBTLEST POETRY
A SKIN SO SMOOTH THAT BUTTER MELTS AWAY
AND EYES SO HAZEL THEY COULD CUT THROUGH THE DARKEST OF SKIES
AN AQUILINE NOSE SO STRAIGHT THAT PINOCCHIO GREENS WITH ENVY
BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL
BUT IT HAS TO BE ON MY AFRICAN WOMAN
Just today I was listening to that tune again...MY RAINBOW. Many would only relish the melodious artistry but I was stunned by the words. A true confession. A humble admittance of going astray. A total submission to the will of LOVE.

I happen to be among the few that attended the same tertiary institution with one of Africa's biggest icon Innocent Ujah Idibia a.k.a Tuface. Yeah...back in 1995-1998 at Institute of Management and Technology, I.M.T Enugu he was that guy we all envied because of his seemingly innocent attempt at displaying his God given talents. Then he was known as Lord E or Lord Elly alongside fellow singer Blackface (then known as Pirates).

I still recall Inno sitting alongside other young aspiring artistes (myself included) behind the nearly full spectator seats of Hotel Presidential Enugu clutching DJ Rap City's microphone and render a classical and hard to differentiate rendition of BoyzIIMen's On Bended Knees before a particular school show commenced. He sang so well that even we started to wonder if there was a remix of the song.

Today that young man back at Hotel Presidential has made Africa so proud that he is among the great legends of music from Mother Africa....a living legend at that. Fame and success comes with its own share of doom-bells but what stands one out is the ability to stand tall. And indeed my dear good friend stood out taller than all...(if you think say e easy, go try).

A proud father and wonderful entertainer, Tuface Idibia undoubtedly is every parent's ideology of how to make it against all odds.

On 14th February 2012 he did the unimaginable... out of all he chose the only damsel, the real African Queen whom we all knew back in the days of I.M.T; pretty ebony complexioned Annie Macaulay was the one he romantically knelt and humbly asked, "Will you marry me". And true to True Love she undeniably answered, "Yes". And so the stage was set for what most thought would be the Mother of all Nigerian Weddings.

Yet again, true to his rather peculiar nature of doing things, Tuface idibia secretly amongst few family members including both their parents, said "I DO" to his African Rainbow Annie Macaulay at a Lagos registry wedding on Wednesday 2nd May 2012 and took the world by surprise and also putting emphasis to his words in one of his popular song AFRICAN QUEEN..."No one could ever take your place".

Congrats to my dear friend and a true "bahd sharp guyns"...."TuBaba no lele we go soon dey show"
